All Natural Ingredients In Sunscreen

In our research of natural ingredients and sunscreen, little concise information has been published on the subject.  As stated in our blog post on sunscreen, in order to be labelled "SPF", "sunscreen", or "scalp protection", the product has to go through rigorous independent FDA-approved lab testing.  That being said, you are the consumer and deserve to know what all those things are in any product you put on your body.

Furthermore, if you know what natural ingredients can help protect against UV rays, you can choose things wisely.  So let's start with a list of all the cool natural ingredients which contain natural protection against the sun.  Listed from most to least protection (and check out the full article here):

Red Raspberry Seed Oil: this oil is also good for skin healing purposes

Carrot Seed Oil: doubles as an antiseptic

Wheatgerm Oil: also full of vitamins and minerals

Less effective, but still with a small SPF factor:

  • Macadamia Oil – SPF 6
  • Non-GMO Soybean Oil – SPF 10
  • Avocado Oil – 4 – 10 (can get as high as 15)
  • Olive Oil  – 2-8
  • Shea Butter – 3 – 6
  • Almond Oil – SPF 5
  • Sesame Seed Oil – SPF 4
  • Hemp Seed Oil – SPF 6
  • Jojoba Oil – SPF 4
  • Coconut Oil – SPF 2 – 8
